In 2021 we launched our alternative education program called Echo Hub. The program represents our commitment to the well-being of future generations, as we connect game dev professionals and young people to provide accessible, safe, and thorough remote education.

We started with a mentoring program but soon discovered that most young people are unaware of the diversity of roles in the game development industry.
Because they don’t know the roles, they don’t know the necessary skill sets or what to study.

Thus, in 2022 we created #ArtZinGaming and #RoleZinGaming, two awareness campaigns, informing about career paths, roles, and skillsets.

#ArtZinGaming

is an awareness campaign dedicated to Gen Z, offering insights into the differences between Game Design and Game Art and the specific art-related roles.

Our goal was to guide young people interested in the game dev industry by debunking myths about artists’ jobs.

Timeline: March 2022 – June 2022

WHAT WE DID:

  • In Phase 1 we delivered basic concepts describing roles related to Game Art: Art Director, Concept Artist, 2D Artist, UI Artist, 3D Artist, Animator, VFX Artist, Tech Artist. In Social Media we shared Stories and Posts engaging the community.
  • In Phase 2 we partnered with a streamer relevant to the gaming industry to address a series of Game Dev questions to a larger community – mainly gen Z. For more engagement, we set up a contest and the prize: 3 students could join the Mentoring Program.

#RoleZinGaming

is a discovery journey in the game development industry’s diverse career paths, roles, and skills.

Our goal was to support young people interested in the game dev industry with access to systematic information and industry professionals.

Timeline: July 2022 – November 2023

WHAT WE DID:

  • In Phase 1 we delivered basic concepts describing entry-level roles and shared the information through Stories and Posts on IG, keeping the community engaged.
  • During Phase 2: we organized webinars and exploratory visits in local video games studios to help young people understand topics like: ‘how games are made’, ‘teamwork’, ‘problem solving’.

During the two awareness campaigns we reached over 95,000 young people in Romania, online and offline. The fantastic results were possible thanks to trustworthy partnerships with the local indie game studio, Amber, high schools and NGOs, The Social Incubator, and RGDA – Romanian Game Developers Association
